And yes, that may seem kinda obvious, but many gym-goers often forget that there’s “life” past those boring vanilla tubes.
So, if you’re ready to give your pre- and post-workout smoothies a flavorful makeover, choose a product with a unique flavor that’ll appeal to your taste buds.
And if you’re only familiar with the standard options, here are some of the flavors that have been making waves over the past few years and that I’ve also grown to love over time:

But, skepticism aside, there’s one fitness persona that I trust 100% and follow religiously on Insta; that’s Sascha Barboza.
The girl knows her way around a well-balanced supplement regimen, and her very own whey protein powder proves just that.
For one, the supplement comes in seven different flavors – even though I think “coconut” is by far the tastiest.
The powder also has a sweet taste (thanks to all the stevia) which means it contains zero sugar while keeping my calorie count at an all-time low.
It also packs 25 grams of protein per serving, putting to shame many whey protein powders out there.
FYI, this low-carb-high-protein combo is perfect for those times when I want to get lean without sacrificing on flavor.
But, that’s just the beginning.
The powder is also free from lactose which minimizes bloating.
And yes, this is a common side effect, especially for those who are sensitive to the allergen.
The powder is also hydrolyzed which means it can be easily absorbed into your bloodstream, allowing the amino acids to reach your muscles faster than usual.
And since all the proteins are already broken down, maldigestion is no longer an issue (shoutout to all IBS sufferers!).
Dymatize ISO100 Hydrolyzed Whey Protein Isolate, Chocolate Peanut Butter
If there’s anything I’ve learned during my childhood years, it’s that chocolate, and peanut butter is a match made in heaven.
Of course, seeing the yummy combo through my adult-ish glasses made me realize that flavor was just the beginning.
And that’s why I turn to this Dymatize best-seller every chance I get.
Despite its dessert-like flavor, the protein powder packs 25 grams of protein per scoop, 5.5 of which are BCAAs (hello, muscles!).
The supplement also contains less than 1 gram of sugar per serving which means it hits the sweet spot between a kick-ass flavor and low carbs.
Of course, what I like the most about this protein powder is that it’s hydrolyzed which guarantees fast nutrient absorption and even quicker muscle recovery.
The powder also comes in the form of isolate which means it’s stripped of any excess carbs, fats, cholesterol, gluten or lactose.
That said, I can add it to my supplement routine without worrying it’ll trigger any of my allergic reactions or bloating, mainly due to lactose.
BSN Syntha-6 Ultra-Premium Protein Matrix, Cookies & Cream
That was the first thought I had when I added this BSN supp to my Amazon cart, and although the reasoning behind my purchase is childish, I’m happy to say that the powder worked like a charm.
Of course, my initial reaction wasn’t as consenting as the thing is packed with artificial ingredients. #notafan
But, after trying the powder for a couple of months (and doing a little research myself), I realized that just because the supp contains artificial ingredients, it doesn’t mean it’s bad for me.
In fact, the matrix is a balanced mix of several proteins, including whey (both concentrate and isolate), micellar casein, egg white, calcium caseinate, and milk protein isolate.
That said, it’s a complete protein and can promote muscle building on any given day.
The only catch?
It doesn’t work as fast as -say- a hydrolyzed protein which is why I add it to my pre-workout shakes or take it before I go to bed (this way I let it work overnight).
The powder also comes in multiple flavors, but the cookies and cream version is nothing short of amazing.
It literally tastes like someone threw a bunch of Oreos into my protein powder (yup, it’s that good!).
But, that’s the end of good news.
The supplement contains 2-3 grams of sugar per scoop – which is why I use it sparingly (once or twice a week).
So, I wouldn’t say it’s the wisest of choices for anyone struggling to lose weight.
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein Powder, Chocolate Mint
But, to me, waiting 11 months to enjoy the yummy combo seems like a waste of time – which is why I get my fix all year round thanks to this Gold Standard top seller.
The powder tastes just as good as the real deal, allowing all sweet-tooth gym-goers (myself included) to satisfy their sugar cravings with none of the calories – or at least, very few of them.
The supplement also packs 24 grams of protein per serving which is perfect if you’re hitting the weight room on the reg.
That’s ’cause these 24 grams can cover almost half of your daily recommended value which means just one shake a day is enough to speed up your muscle recovery by leaps and bounds.
And since Optimum Nutrition is a synonym to excellent user experience, the supp also sports a fine-powder consistency which makes the thing easier to dissolve.
The only thing I’d change on the powder is the amount of sugar it contains.
Not long ago, the brand changed their formula and added sucralose to the mix, so every scoop contains about 2 grams of the sweet stuff which could pile up if you’re not careful.
So, stick to the one-serving-per-day rule, and you’ll be just fine.

Clearly aware of the stigma surrounding protein powders (I’m talking about those hard-to-pronounce ingredients), the people at SFH wanted to create a product that doesn’t just taste great but is also 100% pure.
